School Management Component - Dissemination Trainings for School Management Manual (March – July 2008)

The goal of the School Management Manual is to help the school directors and their managing teams become more effective and more successful in their everyday work. It is also aimed to help other education stakeholders, both on local and on central level, who are in charge of monitoring and evaluation of the work of the school director.

The School Management Manual was developed by experts in the fields of Quality in School, Legislation and Finances, Mr. Metodija Stojanovski, Ms Maja Hesko, Ms Divna Sipovik and Mr. Blagoj Trajkov, Mr. George Nikolov and Ms. Sonja Janeska Petkovska, respectively. The authors developed training materials for three day training on the major topics from the School Management Manual. The dissemination trainings encompassed all school directors (primary and secondary), dormitory directors, state education inspectors and municipality education advisors.

Training of Trainers

In February, SEA and MOES advertised positions for trainers for directors and school boards -122 people applied. Selection committee was composed of MOES, USAID, ZELS and SEA representative who selected 28 candidates for trainers based upon the criteria and procedure as agreed by SEA and MOES. SEA organized the training of trainers in two phases:

• First phase (March 14 – 16, 2008) covered Quality in School, Legislation and Finances. SEA invited all 28 newly selected trainers and 7 DCP trainers. Master trainers Metodija Stojanovski, Blagoj Trajkov, George Nikolov, Sonja Janeska Petkovska and Frosina Raleva Stojceska delivered the training.

• Second phase (March 28 – 30, 2008 and April 11-13, 2008) organized within the training for directors. New trainers were tasked to deliver a pilot session in pairs mentored and monitored by the master trainers. Sixteen new trainers delivered their pilot sessions in March and the remaining trainers in April.

Secondary School Trainings

On March 28-30, training for secondary school directors and dormitory directors was organized in Ohrid. Seventy (70) directors participated in the training.

Primary School Trainings

The trainings for the primary school directors, state education inspectors and municipality education advisors were organized on regional level. Total of 381 trainees were trained in 19 training groups (14 in Macedonian and 5 in Albanian language) in different towns throughout Macedonia in accordance with the training schedule.
