22 December 2005- Conference on “School Governance in the Decentralization Process”.

The aim of the conference was to explain the new roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in school governance in the framework of the decentralization process as well as to raise the awareness of stakeholders to the projects and their support.

More than 1000 participants attended the conference, including all mayors along with primary and secondary school directors and school board representatives.

This event, also marked the start of the School Board Support Component in the framework of the USAID Macedonia, SEA Project.

- Opening Remarks by the Minister for Local Self- Government M.A. Rizvan Sulejmani
- Remarks by the President of ZELS, Mr. Andrej Petrov
- Remarks from Cecilia Sun, Acting Education Office Director, USAID Macedonia.
- Remarks by the Minister of Education and Science of Macedonia, Dr. Aziz Polozhani, and
o Presentation by Milka Masnikosa – Deputy Head of Secondary Education Sector in the Ministry for Education and Science of Macedonia. - „Governance in primary and secondary schools” (competences, rights and responsibilities of the School Boards)
